1.personal information

cao yangchun, ph.d., is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor of the college of animal science and technology of northwest a&f university. he received bachelor’s degree at shandong university and ph.d. at china agricultural university. since 2018, he has been working as a research fellow at harvard medical school. at present, he is mainly engaged in researching the mechanism of intestinal microbes regulating nutrient efficient utilization and body immunity. in the past 5 years, he has published more than 30 sci papers in international mainstream journals of this field such as gastroenterology as first/corresponding author with a highest impact factor of 22.682, authorized 11 national patents as the first inventor, published 2 association standards and 2 shaanxi provincial standards as the first constitutor, and won the first prize of shaanxi province science and technology progress award (2/9) and the second prize of gansu province science and technology progress award (5/10). besides, he has been appointed to the panelists of the harvard medical school nutrition center, awarded as the "top young talent" at the 3rd chinese association of animal science and veterinary medicine (caav) and as the first batch of "young outstanding talents of ordinary universities" at shaanxi province, and won the highest award of the 2nd "young scholar rostrum" of the animal nutrition branch of caav. in addition, he is also appointed as a membership of the chinese inventors association,  deputy secretary-general and council member of the animal nutrition branch of caav, deputy director of the shaanxi province branch of the animal microecology and biological feed professional committee, council member of the national herbivore animal healthy production technology innovation alliance, post scientist of shaanxi province dairy cow industrial technology system, and guest associate editor of frontiers in nutrition. moreover, he has chaired more than 20 research projects, for instance, the general project of national natural science foundation of china, participated in the compilation of 5 textbooks and books such as the 13th five-year national planning textbook "livestock husbandry", engaged in the production of chinese university massive open online courses (mooc) "animal nutrition" which was selected as the first-class national level undergraduate course. additionally, he has been invited to give presentations at domestic and international academic conferences, such as the annual meeting of the american dairy science association, the symposium on gut health in production of food animals, and the symposium on gastrointestinal microbiology of harvard medical school. relevant research results have been reported by domestic mainstream media, for instance, science net, bioart, re xin chang daily, and foreign professional media such as healio gastroenterology.

ruminant nutrition and feed science, gastrointestinal microorganism and efficient utilization of nutrients.

3.curriculum & student cultivation

dr. cao yangchun has been devoted to teaching and researching in the field of animal nutrition and feed science for a long time. he undertake bachelor english teaching courses "animal science topic" and "basic research methods", master english teaching course "research progress in animal nutrition", participate in phd english teaching course "animal nutrition and feed science topic", and is responsible for bachelor courses like "feed additive science" and "comprehensive experiment of feed analysis" etc. besides, he has participated the production of chinese university mooc "animal nutrition", which was selected as the first-class national level undergraduate course and won the "production award" of 2015 national university (life science group) micro-lesson competition. moreover, he has consecutively instructed students to participate and earned the first place honor in the national agriculture and forestry colleges and universities "dairy opportunity & challenge" competition, which co-sponsored by the china national steering committee of agricultural graduate education and the agricultural and forestry committee of the chinese society of academic degrees and graduate education.
